Ashtanga with Laruga

  • Hotel Eden Rovinj, Istria County Croatia (map)

October 1–8, 2022 · 7 nights / 8 days · Rovinj, Istria, Croatia

Open to all levels / SOLD OUT

Led by Laruga

A week of depth and discipline set against the soft edges of the Adriatic. Each morning began in silence with breath and practice; afternoons opened into technique, inquiry and the sea; evenings gathered us for meditation and quiet conversation. It was a potent container—steady, focused, and kind—guided by Laruga’s clarity and care.

Mysore class in Rovinj

Where you are: Rovinj & Golden Cape

  • Golden Cape / Punta Corrente: 52-hectare protected park with cycling routes, cliff-edge walking paths, shaded meadows and a string of small beaches (Lone, Kurent, Golden Cape). Ideal for sunrise runs or forest-bathing walks.

  • Rovinj old town: Venetian-era lanes rising to St. Euphemia—climb the bell-tower for big-sky views; cafés, galleries and a harbor perfect for sunset strolls. The town has become a bona-fide foodie stop with multiple Michelin-listed kitchens.

Hotel Lone

Your hotel

A striking, contemporary design hotel set on the edge of Zlatni Rt (Golden Cape) forest park, a 15-minute waterfront walk from Rovinj’s old town. Expect sculptural architecture, serious wellness, easy beach access (Mulini Beach / Lone Bay), and enough meetings space to handle groups with production needs.

Why it works for retreats

  • Setting that calms: pine forest, promenades, and coves of Lone Bay on the doorstep; town energy close by but not in your face. Rovinj Tourism+1

  • Spaces you can shape: multiple indoor/outdoor areas plus large conference halls (up to ~650 seats) for movement intensives, talks, or sound evenings. Maistra

  • Effortless free time: guests drift between pools, beach club, forest paths and old-town cafés without transfers.

Teacher feature

Laruga Glaser has been practicing Ashtanga yoga continuously for over 23 years. Laruga is one of the most senior Ashtanga teachers in the world with a Level 2 Certification and a charisma who share her yogic knowledge and ethos off & beyond the mat. Starting at the beginning of her 20s, she was immediately drawn to the practice after working with other forms of yoga years prior. After establishing a committed practice she then deepened her studies traveling to Mysore, India annually to practice at KPJAYI where the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois taught and now his grandson, R. Sharath Jois teaches. Laruga has made more than 14 trips to Mysore and is on a mission to continue to learn and grow as a student as well as a teacher. She is one of the few in the world who have been given the distinction of being certified to teach up to Advanced B, which is not easily given and takes many years to earn. Through it all, Laruga teaches as an act of deep sharing and love for what yoga develops in each individual, facilitating space to open, challenge, and inspire those to realize their inherent potential, and has been personally invited all over the world to do so.

Ashtanga Yoga is traditionally taught in the “Mysore” style, and is the most impactful approach in learning and understanding the practice. The name Mysore is derived from the actual city located in Southern India where Sri K. Pattabhi Jois lived, studied, taught and raised his family for most of his life.

Island Hopping

Experience

“Most definitely, my personal practice influences how I teach. I’m not sure if there is any other way. The important part of teaching is doing whatever it is you ask of your students. How is it possible to expect students to practice regularly if I am not doing such myself?

Leading by example is important. On the other hand, I have recognised that immersing myself in the practice of yoga is rather easy versus many of my students who are balancing numerous things. I have students with demanding jobs, multiple children, physical limitations, and/or other stressors. Whereas I acknowledge not only is it easier for me to carve out time to practice daily, I teach it, have time for study, have made multiple trips to Mysore, India and don’t have children of my own.

My goal is to do my best to create a space for people to integrate the practice into their lives in any way they can. Acceptance for where every individual is in their development is very important in how I facilitate a space for learning the practice.”
