Ashtanga with Laruga

  • Hotel Eden Rovinj, Istria County Croatia (map)

October 1–8, 2023 · 7 nights / 8 days · Brac Island, Croatia

Open to all levels / SOLD OUT

Led by Laruga

A week of depth and discipline set against the soft edges of the Adriatic. Each morning began in silence with breath and practice; afternoons opened into technique, inquiry and the sea; evenings gathered us for meditation and quiet conversation. It was a potent container—steady, focused, and kind—guided by Laruga’s clarity and care.

Brač is one of Croatia’s most captivating islands — a place where nature, history, and community are deeply intertwined.

The island’s sun-drenched hills are covered in vineyards, olive groves, and aromatic herbs, where goats and sheep graze freely, giving their cheese its unique, rich flavor.

Perhaps most famous is Zlatni Rat Beach in Bol, a world-renowned stretch of golden sand shaped by the wind and sea currents — often named among the most beautiful beaches in the world.

It’s a vivid reminder of how nature continuously shapes the island’s coastline.

Teacher feature

Laruga Glaser has been practicing Ashtanga yoga continuously for over 23 years. Laruga is one of the most senior Ashtanga teachers in the world with a Level 2 Certification and a charisma who share her yogic knowledge and ethos off & beyond the mat. Starting at the beginning of her 20s, she was immediately drawn to the practice after working with other forms of yoga years prior. After establishing a committed practice she then deepened her studies traveling to Mysore, India annually to practice at KPJAYI where the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois taught and now his grandson, R. Sharath Jois teaches. Laruga has made more than 14 trips to Mysore and is on a mission to continue to learn and grow as a student as well as a teacher. She is one of the few in the world who have been given the distinction of being certified to teach up to Advanced B, which is not easily given and takes many years to earn. Through it all, Laruga teaches as an act of deep sharing and love for what yoga develops in each individual, facilitating space to open, challenge, and inspire those to realize their inherent potential, and has been personally invited all over the world to do so.

Not enough words to describe how perfect, lovely, welcome, warm, gifted, talented, gentle souls these women are. Sonja and Tamara put together and coordinated the most thoughtful yoga experience. Pure magic and love.

This retreat was beyond anything I could have dreamed up. The accomodations were gorgeous and surrounded by exquisite beauty. I felt so safe to relax, to decompress and to process the crunchy stuff that is life on planet earth in this particular moment. The yoga was perfect, the excursions felt fun, well organized and crafted with care.
